It’s time to start exploring WordPress more, in particular refining my knowledge of the platform and the process of deployment on Kubernetes. Working off the bitnami Helm chart has been a great place to start, but with it’s first-implementation quirks, and the fact that post-acquisition bitnami might not be long for this world, it will serve me well to get a deeper knowledge of doing this all myself.
Today I’m just getting back into it. I need to setup a schedule for keeping WP up to date automatically (daily/weekly checks), making sure plugins and themes are updated when available, and perhaps some uptime/availability (pod health?) checks.
Of course, while hosting things myself is fun, it is work. It’s free, but there is downtime risk. With my existing knowledge and interest in Azure I want to explore hosting WP there. It’ll also be good to understand what it would take to migrate my on-prem implementations to Azure or WP cloud. Add it to the list of things.
That’s all for now. Busy day ahead. Will hopefully write more soon.
